In recent times, Russian propagandists have relentlessly perpetuated their blatant falsehoods about the film “20 Days in Mariupol,” which clinched the prestigious “Oscar” award. This cinematic masterpiece, resonating truth and vividness with the world, has become a stumbling block for Russian propaganda.
Recently, they once again decided to take the stage, pulling out from the shadows the hand puppet Marianna Vyshemirska and presenting her as a response to the enlightening truth portrayed in the film. She resurfaced before the cameras, playing her part, claiming that although she hadn’t seen the film, she believed it to be Ukrainian propaganda, while she remained on the side of light and goodness.
Vyshemirska gained worldwide recognition following Russia’s horrific airstrike on March 9th, which struck Maternity Hospital No. 3 in Mariupol. As a result of this strike, one of the women who had given birth tragically passed away along with her child.
A journalist from the Associated Press happened to notice and photograph a bloodied pregnant woman near the maternity hospital. Her image circulated worldwide. This woman turned out to be Vyshemirska herself.
The events unfolding in Mariupol bear witness to a genuine tragedy, and the attempts by Russian propagandists to portray them as Ukrainian agitation are nothing but a poor tragicomedy from a regime that knows it is at risk of being exposed by the truth and facing international condemnation.
