In recent months, Ukrainian servicemen held in Russian captivity have been subjected to unimaginable tortures, classified as war crimes according to a report by the UN Commission investigating violations in Ukraine.

The document outlines instances of systematic and widespread physical and psychological torture. One such case involves a prisoner having his coccyx, clavicle, and teeth broken, resulting in 36 surgeries after release.

Furthermore, the report documents the use of torture involving electric shocks, including in genital areas, as well as starvation. Due to food shortages, inmates were forced to consume worms, soap, paper, and dog food.

These torture cases are categorized as war crimes by an international independent commission for investigating violations. The UN report urges an immediate cessation of these appalling acts and the punishment of those responsible.
