Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated during a speech at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany that Donald Trump’s team currently lacks a concrete peace plan for Ukraine. According to the minister, discussions on this issue so far are limited to media reports and campaign speeches.
“There is no peace plan for Ukraine yet; it hasn’t been presented. There are press reports, campaign speeches from President Trump and his advisers, but there’s no vision yet that can be seriously discussed,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a briefing broadcast by TVP Info.
Trump’s Team Revises Its Approach to Ukraine
According to Financial Times, citing European officials involved in consultations with the incoming U.S. administration, Trump’s team is currently rethinking its strategy for ending the war in Ukraine.
One source told the newspaper that Trump’s administration is eager to project strength, which significantly influences their decisions. “They are obsessed with appearing strong, and this is driving their reevaluation of Ukraine policy,” the official said.
However, no consensus on specific steps to end the war has been reached in Washington. The report suggests that this likely indicates continued U.S. support for Kyiv after Trump’s inauguration.
Fears of Repeating the “Afghanistan Scenario”
Members of Trump’s transition team are also reportedly concerned about potential comparisons to the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan during Joe Biden’s presidency. “They do not want a repeat of such a scenario in Ukraine,” sources close to Trump’s team said.
