July 10, 2024 – Ukrainian filmmaker and military officer Oleg Sentsov is urging the government and Ukrainian citizens to prepare for a protracted war with Russia that could last up to 10 years.
„We can no longer bury our heads in the sand,“ Sentsov emphasizes. „At first they talked about two weeks, then two months, then two years. But now we have to realize that the war could go on for ten years.“
The director is convinced that Ukraine’s victory depends on a clear strategy and long-term preparation. „If we are ready for a ten-year war, and it ends sooner, then we have done everything right,“ he adds.
Sentsov calls for a comprehensive mobilization of the country’s efforts. „All men should be ready for service. We need demobilization and rotation of troops. The economy should be put on a war footing, investing funds in defense and production, not in asphalt and stadiums,“ he stresses.
