Toretsk, a key city in Donetsk Oblast, has been heavily damaged due to ongoing Russian aggression. According to Pavlo Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, approximately 70% of the city’s infrastructure has been destroyed. The population has dropped from 5,500 to around 3,500 people.

Filashkin emphasized that while efforts are being made to evacuate civilians, the process is progressing slowly. “We want people to leave faster, but the situation is extremely challenging. The city is suffering from constant shelling and attacks,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vasyl Chinchik, the head of the Toretsk City Military Administration, denied reports suggesting that the city is under Russian control. “Toretsk remains fully under Ukrainian control, despite the aggressor’s active disinformation campaigns,” Chinchik stated. He confirmed that while the city is enduring intense shelling, it is still defended by Ukrainian forces.

Chinchik also noted that the city is still Ukrainian and continues to face significant threats and challenges. Russian attacks have severely impacted residential areas and critical infrastructure. Additionally, disinformation is playing a role in spreading false information about the situation, causing confusion among the local population and international observers.

As the city remains under threat and faces numerous challenges, Ukrainian forces continue to defend it and ensure the safety of its remaining residents.
