Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, has called upon citizens to actively reduce their electricity consumption, especially during peak evening hours. This measure has become necessary due to the intricate energy situation arising from recent attacks on thermal power plants.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that while the situation is under control after the recent events at the power plants, it remains extremely challenging. Currently, Ukraine is compelled to import electricity from neighboring countries, including Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova.
“Today’s strike has once again inflicted considerable damage to the equipment. The attack targeted both electricity generation facilities and the distribution system,” stated the Prime Minister.
He urged citizens to use electricity judiciously and avoid unnecessary consumption, particularly during evening peak hours. Such measures will significantly contribute to conserving the country’s energy resources and help improve the situation in the energy market.
The contemporary reality poses challenges that Ukraine must respond to cohesively and wisely. Vigilant monitoring of electricity consumption and efficient resource utilization will be key factors in overcoming the current difficulties.
