Russian Atrocities in Kryvyi Rih: 19 Dead, Including 9 Children — Zelensky Calls Russians “Devils and Inhumans”

On April 6, Ukraine declared a national day of mourning to honor the victims of one of Russia’s most brutal terrorist attacks in recent times. At least 19 people, including 9 children, were killed in a massive missile and drone strike on Kryvyi Rih. More than 70 others were injured, many critically. Russian forces targeted the city with an Iskander-M ballistic missile equipped with cluster munitions and Shahed-type kamikaze drones — deliberately hitting civilian sites.

Targeting Civilians Without Military Justification

Local authorities say the Russian attack had no military objective. No critical infrastructure, weapons depots, or military sites were hit. Instead, missiles struck apartment buildings, playgrounds, cafes, schools, and private homes.

Among the victims was a three-year-old boy, Tymofii, who was returning from the playground with his grandmother. After the blast, his mother searched frantically for him. Despite resuscitation efforts, he could not be saved. In another part of the city, an elderly woman was burned alive when a Shahed drone destroyed her home.

According to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of Kryvyi Rih’s Defense Council, 34 residential buildings, six schools, and dozens of shops and businesses were damaged. The ages of the victims range from three months to 68 years. At least 38 people are hospitalized, including six children in serious condition.

Zelensky: “Russians Are Not Diplomats — They Are Inhumans”

During a press briefing, President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a harsh condemnation of Russia’s actions:

“Russians are nothing but devils, scum, and inhumans — not diplomats.”

He stressed that a ceasefire must not be subject to negotiation — it must be unconditional. Only then, he said, can any talks begin.

Zelensky also criticized the U.S. response to the attack, noting that the American embassy did not even name Russia as the perpetrator.

“A strong country, a strong people — and such a weak reaction. Staying silent about the fact that it was Russia who killed children with ballistic missiles only encourages the monsters in Moscow to keep waging war,” he said.

Kremlin Propaganda Masks War Crimes

As in previous cases, the Kremlin attempted to spin the attack with propaganda, spreading false claims about targeting “Western military instructors” or blaming supposed Ukrainian provocations. These narratives are designed to justify the deliberate killing of civilians.

Once again, this proves that Russia is not just waging war — it is engaging in systematic terror. The use of banned weapons, such as cluster munitions, and deliberate strikes on schools, homes, and hospitals expose the true nature of its aggression.

Ukraine Strengthens Diplomatic and Military Alliances

Zelensky said Ukraine is working with France, the United Kingdom, and other partners to build a new defense coalition. Discussions are underway about allied support in air defense, ground operations, and airspace control. The United States is also preparing a new round of sanctions against Russia, aimed at pushing Moscow to end the war.

The president confirmed that Ukraine will not agree to unfreeze the $300 billion in Russian assets held abroad. Moscow has been trying to exchange the frozen funds for high-tech goods — but European countries have taken a firm stand on keeping the assets locked.

On the battlefield, particularly near the Kursk region, Zelensky said the situation remains stable. Ukrainian forces are holding back around 64,000 Russian troops in the area, despite Kremlin disinformation about alleged “encirclement” of Ukraine’s army.

The civilized world must face the truth: Russia is not merely violating international law — it is acting like a terrorist state. The only way to stop this evil is to call it what it is and respond with determination.
