RF Silent on Genocide: Ukrainian Children Disappear Without a Trace

In a recent report by the Financial Times, four more Ukrainian children between the ages of 8 and 15 have been discovered in Russia. Notably, in Russia, these children have had their identities changed, and any adoption documents fail to mention their Ukrainian origin. Under international law, such actions could constitute genocide – a crime against humanity.

However, this issue extends beyond the missing children. It’s just one example of Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine. Why do many Russians choose to turn a blind eye to these atrocities?

Public statements often include denial and attempts to blame Ukraine for the crimes committed. People speak as if nothing unusual has happened, dismissing the situation as mere fantasy. This echoes the scenario of Germans living near concentration camps who chose to ignore the obvious. They knew, but they decided not to acknowledge.

Similar dynamics are at play in Russia today. Many individuals, even those not exposed to propagandist media, are aware of the crimes but choose to remain silent. And when Putinism eventually ends, they will be the first to condemn Putin, justifying their previous actions as a product of the circumstances.

This situation demands attention and action. Our mandatory response is spreading awareness. Anyone privy to the truth must draw attention to this issue. Only then can we hope to see a change.
