Recent reports from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (ISW) indicate that the Kremlin has intensified its information operations to press Ukraine into negotiations. Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, have been observed actively engaging in information campaigns to influence relations between Ukraine and the West.

The essence of these operations lies in disseminating a narrative suggesting that NATO and Russia are already in direct confrontation. This narrative aims to instill warnings and fears among Western countries, urging them to refrain from actively supporting Ukraine and maintaining the status quo.

According to ISW analysts, these information operations are seen as part of Russia’s strategy of reflexive control, aimed at delaying and influencing important decisions regarding Western support for Ukraine. Russia seeks to deter the West from active intervention, utilizing information operations as a tool to achieve this goal.

It is evident that the Kremlin is making significant efforts to escalate tensions and create the illusion of instability in the region, hoping to coax Ukraine to the negotiation table under conditions most favorable to Russia. Meanwhile, the West should carefully analyze the information campaigns and continue to support Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity.
