The Kharkiv region and its surrounding districts are facing a complex situation in the energy sector due to extensive shelling by Russian-occupation forces. This problem is keenly felt by hundreds of thousands of residents who have been left without electricity due to strikes on the energy infrastructure. The lack of electricity poses a danger to life and necessitates swift action by the authorities, who are implementing urgent measures to minimize the negative consequences.
According to Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, nearly 550,000 residents of the region and 300,000 inhabitants of Kharkiv city are in dire straits due to the lack of electricity, a consequence of Russian military shelling. This situation disrupts the normal rhythm of life for citizens, complicates the work of emergency services, and jeopardizes food preservation.
“We are taking urgent measures to ensure the safety and comfort of our citizens. We urge residents to limit the use of elevators, consider the use of autonomous sources of electricity, and use household appliances with caution,” emphasized Synegubov.
In the backdrop of damages to the energy infrastructure from shelling, experts are carrying out restoration work to repair and maintain energy networks for the swiftest possible restoration of their stability.
Additionally, the government is actively informing the public about schedules of planned power outages so that residents can better plan their affairs and avoid unforeseen problems. Updated schedules include information on populated areas, streets, and periods when disruptions in electricity supply are possible.
Government efforts are aimed at minimizing discomfort and ensuring the safety of the population. It is crucial for the authorities and the public to work together to overcome this challenging situation and restore normal life in the region. The energy crisis in the Kharkiv region is a challenge that can only be overcome by defeating the enemy, as such occurrences persistently recur. As evidenced by the situation analysis, the aggressors will continue to destroy infrastructure and kill Ukrainians as long as they have the slightest opportunity to do so.
