Paris, March 11, 2024 – French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an urgent summit with leaders from over 20 Western nations to address the escalating situation in Ukraine. The meeting aims to discuss not only the possibility of procuring munitions from third-party countries but also to send a clear message to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“We are not resigned, and we are not in despair. We want Russia to understand this. Russia must be prepared for us to collectively end this war and restore the rights of Ukraine. We aim to send a very clear signal to Putin that he will not prevail in Ukraine. Our goal is to dismantle the narrative he wants us to believe,” emphasized Macron’s advisor.

This move comes in response to the “escalation of Russian aggression in recent weeks.” Of particular concern is Putin’s flight on a nuclear-capable bomber, seen by Europeans as an attempt to intimidate.

Prominent figures expected at the conference include German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and leaders from Scandinavia and the Baltic states. The United States will be represented by Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Jim O’Brien, while Canada will have Defense Minister Bill Blair in attendance.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also slated to address the summit. The collaborative efforts of these nations, aimed at halting Russian aggression and restoring peace in the region, promise to define the course of future events.
