In recent weeks, tensions regarding security in Moscow have escalated, prompting several countries’ embassies to express serious concerns about the risk posed by mass gatherings in the metropolis. The Embassies of the United States of America and Germany emphasized the need to avoid such gatherings to ensure the safety of citizens.
In their official statements, the diplomatic missions noted the risk of attacks, particularly from unmanned aerial vehicles. German diplomacy highlighted that over recent months, Moscow and its outskirts have been subject to several drone attacks resulting in limited material damage. However, they underscored that further attacks cannot be ruled out.
“Over the past months, Moscow and especially its southern outskirts have been targeted by drone attacks multiple times. At present, these attacks have caused limited material damage. However, further attacks cannot be ruled out. The same applies to potential attacks on the public transportation network, particularly on train movements,” the statement read.
Among the recommendations provided to citizens are avoiding mass gatherings, especially in the streets of Moscow and in public transportation. Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution and vigilance and to monitor updates regarding security in the region.
Despite these recommendations, the Moscow authorities emphasize that citizen safety is a priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to prevent potential threats.
