Ukraine remains at the forefront of a military conflict with Russia, but this struggle has far-reaching global implications, warns Radoslaw Sikorski, the Foreign Minister of Poland. Ukraine requires support from the international community to ensure security and stability in the region.
During his address at the Atlantic Council, Sikorski expressed the belief that providing Ukrainian forces with necessary ammunition is just the first step. Investment in security, the establishment of strong alliances, and genuine deterrence of Russia’s aggressive actions are essential.
“Russia may suffer hundreds of thousands of casualties in this conflict, but under dictatorship, human life holds little value,” he emphasized. “Putin has crushed dissent, killed Alexei Navalny, transformed the economy into a wartime regime, and increased arms production.”
Highlighting Ukraine as a testing ground for Putin’s aggression, Sikorski called for immediate action to prevent a global conflict. “These steps are necessary not to escalate the conflict but to prevent an even greater global crisis that is approaching our borders,” he stressed.
History has shown that inaction in response to threats can lead to catastrophic consequences. Therefore, the international community must act together and decisively to support Ukraine and ensure peace and stability in the region.
