Former Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, stated in an interview with The Times that President Volodymyr Zelensky’s sole objective is to achieve victory in the war against Russia.

Kuleba emphasized that it will be difficult for Donald Trump to achieve a peace agreement, but the cessation of military aid to Ukraine is unlikely to happen. According to him, we should not expect swift negotiations, and Ukraine’s accession to NATO is possible only in 10–20 years.

“The real end of this war will come only when one of us survives it. Either Ukraine or Putin,” Kuleba stressed.

Context of Russian Aggression

Kuleba’s comments once again highlight the complexity of the geopolitical situation Ukraine finds itself in. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has been attempting to destroy Ukraine’s statehood, using terror tactics against civilians, destroying infrastructure, and blocking the economy. Meanwhile, Western support remains a crucial factor enabling Ukraine to successfully counter the aggressor.

Kuleba’s statement about the war ending only with the victory of one side reflects Ukraine’s uncompromising stance. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that no territorial concessions to Russia can be part of any negotiations, as this would undermine international law and create a dangerous precedent for the world.

Ukraine continues to strengthen its defense capabilities and works closely with international partners to receive modern weaponry necessary for liberating the occupied territories.
