Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Germany to participate in the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, commonly known as the “Ramstein” format. The event brought together defense ministers from 54 countries, reflecting growing international support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin as part of the same format. The discussions focused on finalizing strategic “roadmaps” across eight key areas that will define Ukraine’s defense needs through 2027. Key priorities include air defense systems, artillery, drones, armored vehicles, air forces, and maritime security.

Key Statements by Zelensky

During his speech at the meeting, Zelensky made several significant remarks:

🔹 Economic Pressure on Russia: “Putin will only start thinking about peace when his inner circle realizes that the money has run out. If we want to stop the killings, we must cut off Russia’s financial flows.”

🔹 Drones as a Strategic Tool: The president emphasized that Ukraine aims to achieve record results this year in terms of both the quantity and quality of its drone operations.

🔹 The Kursk Operation as a Success for Ukraine: “This is one of our significant victories since the start of the war. Many Russian threats have proven to be a bluff. To counter Ukraine, Russia had to withdraw nearly 60,000 troops from the front, while North Korean forces fighting on Putin’s side have already lost about 4,000 personnel.”

🔹 The Impact of Smaller Nations: Zelensky underscored that Ukraine has demonstrated during the years of full-scale war that even smaller nations can have a significant impact on the course of history.

🔹 Deployment of International Forces: The president stated that the deployment of an international contingent in Ukraine could become a powerful tool to compel Russia to make peace. “We heard signals of support for this initiative from the United Kingdom. We must be bold and propose strong solutions,” Zelensky noted.

Strategic Focus

Ukraine’s main goal is to end the war by 2025 under conditions acceptable to Kyiv and Europe. Achieving this will require implementing the “roadmaps” that outline the country’s defense priorities, as well as close coordination with NATO and other allies.

Ukraine continues to demonstrate resilience and readiness to adopt innovative approaches in warfare, including extensive use of drones and strengthened international cooperation.

Context of International Support

The “Ramstein” meetings take place against the backdrop of intensified Russian military aggression. This format has become a key platform for coordinating international military aid to Ukraine. NATO countries prioritize supporting Ukraine, recognizing that the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces directly impacts the security of the European continent.
