In an exclusive interview with The Washington Post, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed serious concerns regarding the absence of necessary military assistance from the United States. According to Zelensky, this lack of support could lead to significant losses for Ukraine and force the country to retreat on the front lines in the face of Russian aggression.
The President specified that the absence of U.S. support has resulted in severe limitations in military equipment, particularly in the realm of air defense, missile systems, and other crucial military assets essential for the country’s defense.
“If we need 8,000 rounds of ammunition per day to defend the front line, and we only have 2,000, we will be forced to do less. And if the front line is breached, Russian forces could advance into major cities,” emphasized Zelensky.
He further suggested that Russians should adapt to a life without energy resources, including gasoline, diesel fuel, and electricity, deeming it a fair response to Russian aggression.
In his statement, Zelensky also addressed the potential use of ATACMS-300 missile systems to target aerodromes in Crimea, from which Russia launches aircraft carrying missiles.
Lastly, the President underscored the lack of international response to Putin’s actions in 2014 when he annexed Crimea, which paved the way for further aggression and warfare in eastern Ukraine.
Zelensky called on the international community to be more vigilant towards Russian actions and understand that combating cunning rather than intelligent leaders is always challenging and perilous.
These statements from the Ukrainian President highlight the seriousness of the situation in eastern Ukraine and the need for international support to ensure the country’s security and sovereignty.
