In an interview with Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has no intention of handing over its natural resources. Instead, he proposed a mutually beneficial partnership for their joint development. He emphasized that the country’s future lies in attracting investors who can help drive its economic recovery and strengthen its position in global markets.

Occupation of Ukrainian Resources by Russia

The Russian Federation currently controls about half of all Ukrainian mineral deposits. Zelensky highlighted that special attention must be given to protecting fertile regions, particularly the Dnipropetrovsk area and central Ukraine. These territories are rich in strategic resources that could play a key role in the country’s economic revival.

Return of Illegally Seized Assets

The Ukrainian president suggested that former U.S. President Donald Trump, should he return to power, might demand the Kremlin return the seized resources. Zelensky remarked: “Listen, you just took trillions – this cannot be the case, you must return what belongs to another country.”

Priority for Allies

The head of state noted separately that the U.S. and its allies provide the greatest support to Ukraine. According to Zelensky, they should be given priority when it comes to access to opportunities for profit during the country’s post-war recovery process.

Ukraine is not only resisting Russian aggression but also seeking ways to involve foreign partners in developing its economy, which will be crucial for a stable future and reconstruction.
