In a recent development amid heightened military-political tensions, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has successfully thwarted an attempt to transfer confidential Ukrainian developments to Russia. The operation, carried out amidst escalating security concerns, resulted in the apprehension of a group of engineers and designers allegedly involved in the clandestine scheme.

According to the investigation, the adversarial covert group included a chief from a design bureau and a deputy head of a workshop at an industrial facility. These individuals emerged as key figures in the unfolding case.

The group had sought to transmit documentation from a local strategic plant in the Kharkiv region. Of particular interest to the hostile agents were blueprints, schematics, and production guidelines for steam turbines, along with their components. Notably, these turbines are not manufactured in Russia, hence their uninterrupted procurement from the Kharkiv-based enterprise prior to the onset of full-scale aggression.

Currently, the detained individuals are held in custody, facing potential life imprisonment on charges of state betrayal and attempted dissemination of state secrets. The Security Service continues its vigilance in unraveling and dismantling similar criminal networks that pose threats to Ukraine’s national security.
