Recent intelligence reports indicate that Russia continues to bolster its military strength by deploying state-of-the-art Su-35 and Su-34 aircraft to the frontlines. This move could have significant implications not only for Ukraine but for the entire world.
Su-35 and Su-34: Weapons of the Aggressor
The Su-35 is a fourth-generation multi-role fighter capable of engaging in aerial combat and striking ground and naval targets. It boasts enhanced maneuverability, flight range, and avionics, making it a formidable adversary.
The Su-34 is a frontline bomber with long-range capabilities and powerful bomb armament. It can carry up to 8 tons of munitions, including high-explosive, fragmentation, and incendiary bombs, as well as various types of missiles.
According to information obtained from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, there are also seven early warning and air traffic control (AWACS) A-50U aircraft.
These advanced Russian military technologies could prove pivotal in sustaining the conflict and often serve as instruments of civilian casualties in Ukraine. However, it is important to note that, according to recent reports, three out of seven A-50U aircraft are currently undergoing repair and modernization.
Two of them are undergoing modernization at the Taganrog Aviation Scientific-Technical Complex named after G.M. Beriev, while another is stationed at the Ulyanovsk airfield at the Aviastar plant.
Threat to Ukraine
The deployment of these aircraft to the frontlines poses a significant threat to Ukraine. The risks include:
Continued mass bombardment of Ukrainian cities, leading to significant destruction and loss of life. Escalation of the conflict and involvement of other countries. Loss of civilian lives due to indiscriminate bombing.
This jeopardizes the security and stability not only in Ukraine but also in the civilized world, as the threat emanating from Russia will only escalate, posing new challenges and opportunities for all members of the international community.
International Response
The increasing tension on the international stage compels world countries to respond to Russia’s actions. Calls are growing for:
Enhanced sanctions against Russia to compel it to cease aggression. Providing military assistance to Ukraine to bolster its defense capabilities. Coordination of actions among world countries to restrain the aggressor.
Consequences for the World
The heightened risk of global war and destabilization of international security raise questions about:
Reorganization of international institutions, such as the UN, where the aggressor nation currently enjoys impunity, and the UN allows it to kill Ukrainians with impunity. Establishment of effective mechanisms to deter aggressors and prevent wars. Creation of mechanisms to prevent violations of international treaties and non-compliance with commitments undertaken by countries, such as the Budapest Memorandum.
What’s Next?
The world cannot afford to ignore Russia’s military buildup. Decisive actions are needed to:
Restrain the aggressor and preserve peace. Support Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence. Ensure international security and stability.
It is important to remember:
Russia bears responsibility for resolving the war in Ukraine, and its crimes against the civilian population must not go unpunished. Unity of the world is key to stopping the aggressor and defending democracy.
