Recent days have seen a significant increase in Russian military activity around Ugladar, with heightened operations on two key sectors of the Ugladar front: west of Pavlivka and near Vodiane. According to analysts from the Deep State project, the goal of these intensified actions is clear—to encircle Ugladar. The number of failed frontal assaults by the enemy has already reached into the hundreds.

Russian Advances on the Pokrovsk Front

In addition, Russian forces have made considerable progress on the Pokrovsk front. Geolocation footage from August 27 confirms that Russian troops have advanced more than two kilometers from their previously confirmed positions in the northwest of Novohrodivka. Other geolocation data also indicate minor advances by the enemy in the southeast of Hrodivka. Additionally, Russian forces have captured Kalynove.

Context of Russian Aggression

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ugladar has been a critical focal point. The city’s strategic location and infrastructure make it a significant target for both sides. Russian attacks on this front are part of a broader strategy by the Kremlin to seize as much territory as possible in eastern Ukraine.

Given the failures experienced by Russian forces on other fronts, including Bakhmut and Avdiivka, the Kremlin is seeking new ways to achieve its goals. Encircling Ugladar could be part of this strategy. However, the success of these plans remains uncertain, as Ukrainian forces continue to demonstrate resilience and determination in defending their positions.

Conclusions and Prospects

The developments on the Ugladar front highlight the ongoing aggressiveness of the Russian military. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces persist in their vigorous defense, preventing the enemy from achieving its objectives. Despite some tactical successes by the Russians, the situation remains complex, with future developments dependent on various factors, including arms supplies and support from Western allies.
