Zaporizhzhia, May 2, 2024 – Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration (ZRA), has declared that restoration works at the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station (DniproHES) will kick off this May. He made this crucial announcement during a telethon discussion addressing the restoration of energy facilities damaged during the conflict.
Currently, efforts are underway to clear the rubble resulting from numerous missile strikes by the Russian Federation on this civilian infrastructure. However, simultaneous work is being conducted to restore the energy infrastructure and logistics.
“Our plan is to execute the restoration within this year, but numerous factors could influence this process,” stated the ZRA head.
Fedorov expressed hope that works would commence as early as May, emphasizing the complexity of the DniproHES structure.
It is noteworthy that Russian occupying forces launched missile strikes on the DniproHES on the night of March 22, resulting in damage to two stations within its structure as well as the dam. This posed a threat of dam collapse and casualties among the civilian population.
This step towards restoring DniproHES is a stride towards reinstating stability and safety in the region, as well as ensuring energy security for the entire nation.
