Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that military airfields in Russia’s rear, from where aircraft and missiles attacking Ukrainian cities are launched, must be destroyed. This statement comes in light of recent drone attacks on Russian military targets.
“The fewer restrictions we have on the use of effective weapons, the more actively Russia will seek peace. Military airfields, from which Russian planes take off with bombs against our cities, launch sites for Russian missiles—all of this must be destroyed,” emphasized the President.
Last night, the Millerovo airfield in the Rostov region caught fire. Local authorities reported the “downing” of over 26 drones, while local residents recorded 16 powerful explosions near the village of Dolotinka and in the vicinity of an oil depot.
Context of Russian Aggression
Russian aggression against Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and began supporting separatist movements in the Donbas region. Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has continuously attacked peaceful Ukrainian cities using aviation and missile systems.
