Today, Ukraine faced one of the largest combined missile strikes by Russia. According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the occupiers launched at least 127 missiles and 109 drones across various regions of the country. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 102 missiles and 99 drones, but some still managed to hit their targets, causing significant damage and casualties.
Russia employed missiles of various types, launched from the air, land, and sea. This continues to demonstrate that the aggressor remains committed to its tactics of terror, aimed at destroying critical infrastructure and intimidating the civilian population.
Zelensky: “Russia Sticks to Its Deranged Strategy”
President Volodymyr Zelensky sharply condemned the Kremlin’s actions, calling Putin a “deranged creature.” He emphasized that this massive strike is yet another sign that Russia has no intention of backing down from its aggressive policies. “Ukraine cannot have limits on long-range capabilities when the terrorists have none,” the president stated, underscoring the need to enhance our country’s defensive capabilities.
Zelensky also urged international partners to provide additional military aid to Ukraine, stressing that the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and other allies have the power to help stop Russian terror. He called for decisive action to ensure that Ukraine receives all the necessary weapons to defend itself against the aggressor.
Strike on Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Station: Occupiers Target Critical Infrastructure
The occupiers struck the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Station dam, raising serious concerns among the public. Fortunately, the dam itself did not suffer critical damage, but the roadway was affected, and traffic across the dam was halted. Preliminary reports suggest that the strike hit the engine room, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
For the first time since 2022, a Russian missile was directed toward Zakarpattia, specifically near Uzhhorod. This development has raised eyebrows, as Russia had previously avoided targeting this region due to the complexities of planning missile routes through mountainous terrain and to avoid any conflict with Hungary.
Attack Aftermath: Casualties and Damage
According to official data from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, seven people were killed, and another 47 were injured in today’s massive attack, including four children. In Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, debris from an enemy drone caused a fire that completely destroyed a car. The driver was injured, but the fire was promptly extinguished.
Despite the serious damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, experts say this will not halt the operation of the united energy system. Repair work on damaged facilities is already underway, and they are expected to be back in operation soon.
This attack once again highlights the cruelty and unpredictability of Russian actions. However, Ukraine remains resilient, and our defenders continue to protect every corner of the country.
