Representatives of the European Union member states have finally reached a consensus on extending trade agreements with Ukraine. The agreement entails extending measures for a year, including the potential abolition of customs tariffs. This was announced by the representation of Belgium, which currently holds the presidency of the EU Council.
This compromise solution became possible thanks to a new approach that will balance support for Ukraine and the protection of the EU’s agricultural markets. It is noted that this step is a significant move towards strengthening trade relations between the two parties.
It is expected that the agreement on the extension of trade mechanisms will soon be submitted to the European Parliament for consideration. This opens up new opportunities for deepening cooperation and trade development between Ukraine and EU countries.
Further details regarding the specific terms and conditions of the agreement will be clarified during discussions in the European Parliament. However, it can already be noted that this decision lays a positive foundation for the development of economic relations between Ukraine and the European Union for the next year.
