The publication Astra has recently released an audio intercept revealing the harsh realities faced by Russian soldiers as they prepared for the assault on the Kursk region. The recording of a conversation with Alexander Garkavenko, head of the Goncharovka village council, offers a stark glimpse into the situation on the front lines and the conditions under which Russian troops were evacuated.

In the audio, Garkavenko describes the dire circumstances during the evacuation: “During the evacuation, there were several conscripts. I was shocked when they waded through the river with civilians. (The conscript) had two magazines. I said, ‘Is that all you have?’ – ‘No, that’s all we had. Two magazines. Our command told us to hold out for a day.’ But we evacuated them on the third day!” Garkavenko recounts.

According to the conversation, local residents provided crucial support to the soldiers, supplying them with food, clothing, and footwear. However, it wasn’t just material support that was lacking. Garkavenko also noted that warning signs “Beware of Mines” were placed in areas where there were no mines. This highlights serious security issues and potential demoralization among the troops.

Additionally, it was noted that Russian forces deployed “Grad” rocket systems to fire from the territories of settlements, posing further danger to civilians. This underscores the brutality and irresponsibility with which the enemy conducts its operations, raising serious questions about adherence to international humanitarian norms.
