The United States is swiftly losing the trust of its allies worldwide due to its steadfast commitment to Ukraine, analysts caution.
In both Europe and Asia, there is a growing perception that the US is failing to support its partners even with weaponry, let alone direct involvement of American forces in defending allies.
This analysis comes from Defense Express, a military analytical portal, which examines recent statements from global leaders.
“The fact that the US is undermining its position as a security guarantor by failing to assist Ukraine is becoming not just apparent, but maximally public at the highest levels of state,” the outlet writes.
A worrisome indicator for Washington in this context should have been the recent speech by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, at the European Forum. A similar signal was voiced by a representative of Japan, a strategic ally of the US in another key region of the world.
As Defense Express notes, not only Japan but also South Korea and Taiwan are closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine.
“If the US cannot even ensure stable arms support, what hope is there that in the event of aggression from China or North Korea, the situation will not repeat itself? Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan expect more active involvement from the US in this process than just supplying arms,” the outlet remarks.
This situation could have serious consequences for the US, including a loss of influence on the international stage and a deterioration of relations with key allies. Without swift action from Washington, negative repercussions for geopolitical stability and security worldwide are possible.
