Ukrainian Strikes on Russian Infrastructure: Escalation of the War and Consequences for the Kremlin

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, the conflict has expanded beyond our nation’s borders. The Kremlin, intent on maintaining its aggressive stance, did not anticipate that Ukraine would be capable of delivering powerful counterstrikes on Russian infrastructure. However, the situation is rapidly evolving, and Moscow is now feeling the consequences of this escalation on its own territory.

The head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, stated clearly: “If Russia thinks that Ukraine’s strikes on its infrastructure are a temporary phenomenon, then Moscow is mistaken. Our strikes will only increase in intensity. We did not start this war, but we will definitely finish it.”

Intensifying Strikes on Russia

Recent events have confirmed Yermak’s words. A fuel depot in Proletarsk, Rostov Region, burned for 16 days, causing significant damage. Satellite images reveal the scale of the destruction: over 30 tanks, each with a capacity of 500 cubic meters of fuel, were damaged by the fire. This is just one example of how Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure are inflicting serious economic and military losses on Russia.

Ukrainian drone strikes also led to significant disruptions at the Moscow Oil Refinery. Reuters reports that due to these strikes, about half of the refinery’s capacity was halted. The refinery, which supplies one-third of all gasoline sold in Moscow and is a key supplier of kerosene to the capital’s airports, is owned by Gazprom Neft and was forced to shut down its Euro+ oil processing unit.

International Response and U.S. Restrictions

However, not everyone in Ukraine is satisfied with the restrictions imposed by international partners on the use of American weapons for strikes on Russian territory. The Economist notes that Ukrainian dissatisfaction is growing due to limitations that the Biden administration has placed on the use of American weapons against targets inside Russia. These restrictions add additional challenges for the Ukrainian side in the ongoing conflict with the aggressor.

Journalists suggest that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may have one last chance to convince Biden to change his stance at the upcoming UN conference next week. This could be a turning point in the further course of the war.

Attack on Tver: Another Strike on Russian Military Infrastructure

Equally significant are the strikes on Russian military facilities. Local sources report a Ukrainian drone attack on the Migalovo airfield in the Tver region. This base is a key facility for Russian military transport aviation, hosting Il-76MD and An-124 transport aircraft, as well as the command of the 12th Military Transport Aviation Division and the 8th Regiment within its structure.

Prospects for Ending the War: When the Aggressor Feels the Consequences

Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure not only destroy important facilities but also demonstrate that the aggressor will be forced to pay a high price for its actions. Each new strike weakens Russia’s potential, bringing the end of the war closer on terms favorable to Ukraine.

In light of these events, it is essential to understand the context of the aggression and its consequences for the world. Meanwhile, political statements on ending the war take on particular importance.
