Ukrainian military officials have breathed a sigh of relief as the Black Sea Fleet has essentially completed its withdrawal from the annexed Crimea. This information was disseminated by a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Pletenchuk, who emphasized the significance of this step.
“Most of the combat units, particularly missile ships, have been successfully relocated, with only one unfortunate specimen left, which has yet to launch a single missile despite being considered a carrier of cruise missiles. Other combat units have also been relocated.
Those left behind can be deemed, if not obsolete, then those who no longer have a place in Novorossiysk. There still remains a certain fleet there, but the most valuable assets have already been withdrawn,” he noted in a commentary provided to Ukrainian media.
This move could be considered strategically important for Ukraine as it signifies an increase in security in the Black Sea region. Relocating the fleet allows Ukrainian authorities to focus on other critical aspects of security and defense. Additionally, this step may hold significant importance for international allies closely monitoring developments within the Black Sea Fleet.
