In response to unverified claims by the Russian Federation regarding simulated strikes in the vicinity of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), Igor Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine, issued a resolute statement yesterday. He underscored that Ukraine has no involvement whatsoever in any military provocations on the territory illegally occupied by Russia at the ZNPP.
These statements mark yet another step in the aggressive policies of the Russian Federation, which systematically violate international law and jeopardize the security not only of Ukraine but also of the entire Europe. Simulated strikes, the placement of troops and weapons in close proximity to nuclear facilities, as well as the mining of the ZNPP, are only part of the criminal practices of the occupying forces.
The Ukrainian authorities strongly urge the international community to respond to these issues and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities and peace in the region.
These events undoubtedly create tensions in interstate relations and underscore the importance of international cooperation in ensuring security and stability. At the same time, they remind us of the need to strengthen measures to monitor compliance with international standards in the field of nuclear safety.
For Ukraine, this is not only a matter of national security but also a key aspect of preserving peace and stability in the region.
