In a decisive move, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has unveiled plans for the creation of Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) as a pivotal component of the country’s Armed Forces. Addressing the nation, he emphasized that this strategic decision aims to swiftly transform the face of the military and deliver tangible results in the immediate future.
“This year will be pivotal in many aspects, particularly on the battlefield. Drones, as unmanned systems, have already demonstrated their effectiveness in various combat scenarios—on land, in the air, and at sea. Ukraine has already altered the dynamics in the Black Sea through the successful deployment of drones. Tracking ground assaults has become the domain of drones, surpassing expectations with their productivity,” highlighted President Zelensky.
One of the key advantages of employing unmanned systems is their ability to provide precise on-the-ground event tracking and efficiently utilize them for large-scale destruction of enemy forces and equipment. The President outlined a series of tasks, including the creation of specialized positions for drone operations, the formation of dedicated units, and the refinement of training and experience systematization.
“We have a clear objective: training specialists for unmanned systems, establishing effective units, continually enhancing expertise, and systematically expanding production. This is a task for the military, the Ministry of Defense, and the government as a whole,” underscored the President.
The establishment of Unmanned Systems Forces is identified as a strategic step for Ukraine, not only to enhance national security but also to secure cutting-edge technological solutions in defense. This initiative is driven by the necessity to adapt to modern challenges and leverage advanced technologies to ensure national security.
