Two Russian spies have recently been apprehended in Bavaria, according to reports from the reputable German publication Spiegel. Their alleged plans involved carrying out sabotage on military transportation routes and obstructing German aid to Ukraine.
One of the detainees is a 39-year-old man holding both Russian and German citizenship. It’s reported that he fought alongside terrorists in the so-called “DNR” from 2014 to 2016. Furthermore, in 2023, he was allegedly in discussions with representatives of the FSB about plans for sabotage operations. The second suspect joined him in March of this year.
Details regarding their actions and motivations remain scarce, but according to Spiegel, they were also conducting surveillance on American military bases in Germany.
The arrests of these spies have sparked reactions both in German and Russian societies. Political analysts view this as indicative of heightened tensions in international relations amid the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the threat to the security of European nations.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation into the actions of the detainees and their possible involvement in other attempts to destabilize the situation in the region.
This arrest underscores the importance of maintaining security and jointly combating international terrorism, which has become an urgent task for countries fighting for their independence and territorial integrity.
