Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has exposed a group of collaborators working on behalf of the Kremlin, promoting narratives about “external control” in Ukraine and calling for the country’s surrender. Operating from Russian territory, the group declared itself “the only legitimate Ukrainian government” and launched an information campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine’s leadership.
According to the SBU, this is part of a Russian information operation designed to destabilize the political situation in Ukraine and demoralize the population during wartime.
The group is led by Dmytro Vasylets,
head of the banned pro-Russian party “Derzhava.” Vasylets has previously been convicted for supporting Russia’s military aggression. Other key figures include:
- Valentyn Rybin, a lawyer for Anatoliy Shariy, currently under investigation for treason;
- Oleksandr Skubchenko, a political commentator affiliated with pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk;
- Oleksandr Semchenko, deputy head of “Derzhava”;
- Pavlo Onyshchenko, leader of the pro-Kremlin group “Slobozhanska Sich”;
- Viktor Malafeyev and Maksym Shykhaleiev, propagandists spreading disinformation in Russia’s interests.
All suspects have been formally charged with treason and collaboration with an enemy state. The SBU emphasized that even though these individuals are hiding abroad, they will be held accountable under Ukrainian law.
This case highlights Russia’s ongoing attempts to destabilize Ukraine not only through military aggression but also by launching hybrid attacks in the information space. The Kremlin is trying to construct a fake “alternative government” using discredited political figures with no legitimacy in Ukrainian society.
Russian Troops Attempt Border Breakthrough in Sumy Region – Deep State Analysts
Meanwhile, Russian forces are ramping up military activity in the north. According to analysts from Deep State, the enemy is attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses along the stretch from the village of Zhuravka to the Sudzha border crossing in Russia’s Kursk region.
A growing “gray zone” is forming along the border in Sumy Oblast, signaling Russia’s efforts to gain a foothold on Ukrainian soil. Under cover of shelling, Russian troops are carrying out probing attacks in preparation for possible offensive actions.
These simultaneous military and information assaults show the Kremlin’s coordinated strategy: to pressure Ukraine on the battlefield while undermining national unity from within. Despite these threats, Ukraine continues to resist and defend its sovereignty.
