Russia Changes Tactics: New Attacks on Ukrainian Power Stations Leave Residents in Crisis

The Russian Federation is shifting towards painful strikes against Ukraine’s power stations, aiming to leave citizens without electricity. According to the Financial Times, Russian military tactics have evolved: precision missiles are being used to target power stations in less fortified regions than Kyiv, where some may not be fully restored by the next winter.

Ukrainian officials have reported that while the damage inflicted by the Russians is not as extensive as during the winters of 2022-2023, it is now more severe and evidently aimed at permanent and irreversible destruction. This could lead to serious problems for Ukrainian citizens, who may lack access to adequate medical care, livelihoods, or food storage. This indicates that one of the primary goals of the invasion of Ukraine is genocide.

Between March 22nd and 29th, the Russian Federation struck 7 thermal and 2 hydroelectric power stations located in regions other than Kyiv, where some of the country’s best air defense systems are located. Journalists note that Ukrainian officials have stated that several stations, particularly in the Kharkiv region near the Russian border, were nearly completely destroyed.

These attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure underscore the threat posed by the Russian Federation to the region’s security and affirm the necessity of an international response to these aggressive actions. Hope for a swift resolution of the conflict in Ukraine appears remote, and the world faces a new test of geopolitical stability and security, highlighting the importance of military support for Ukraine.
