Recently, a crucial meeting took place in Kyiv between President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The upcoming Ramstein meeting on October 12 will also address the issue of granting Ukraine permission to strike long-range targets within Russia. This move could be pivotal in shifting the balance of power on the battlefield.
Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg remarked that Ukraine could be welcomed into the alliance even if parts of its territory remain occupied. He cited Japan as an example, which receives security guarantees from the United States despite having territorial disputes. Stoltenberg noted, “When there is a will, there is always a way to find a solution,” but he insisted that Ukraine must control its entire territory up to a defined border.
The politician also stated that resolving the conflict in Ukraine might be possible after the U.S. presidential elections, when a “new impetus” for negotiations could emerge.
